Attendance that counts working days, not calendar days

Class-wise marking in one pass, and a monthly register that only counts the days the school was open.

The problem: a percentage nobody trusts

In many schools the attendance register is a book on the class teacher's desk, and the monthly percentage is worked out by hand at the end of the month. Holidays get counted on some pages and skipped on others. When a principal asks which students are below the school's attendance threshold, the answer takes a day and still carries doubt.

How it works in Campus One

A teacher opens the class and marks every student in one pass. Each mark is one of five codes the product uses:

CodeMeaningCounts as
PPresent1 day
LLate1 day
HHalf dayhalf a day
AAbsent0
CLApproved leave0 (recorded, not counted as present)

The monthly register then divides by working days: the days the school was open, with weekly offs and the school's holiday list left out. A register that was never taken is still a working day, so the percentage falls instead of quietly skipping it, and the register shows that it was not taken.

Once a register is locked, a correction needs a reason. The reason stays on record together with the change, so the register can be checked later.

You can try the same arithmetic on the attendance register on the home page: change a mark and watch the percentage move.

Who uses it

  • Class teachers mark their class each day.
  • The principal sees attendance against working days and the classes below the threshold the school has set.
  • The office opens a student's record, where attendance is one of the tabs next to academics, documents and communication.

What it does not do yet

  • It does not send absence messages to parents: messages are simulated in the demo and WhatsApp delivery is not connected.
  • This page covers student attendance. Payroll is planned, not built.
  • Campus One runs in the browser today; an Android app is planned.

Questions

Does a holiday lower a student's attendance?

No. Weekly offs and the school's holiday list are not working days, so they are left out of the count.

What if a teacher forgets to take a register?

That day is still a working day, so the percentage falls and the register shows it was not taken. Nothing is hidden.

Are parents told about absence the same morning?

Not yet. Messages to parents are simulated in the demo, and real WhatsApp delivery is not connected.
